I was born in Bethesda, MD and raised in Potomac. I graduated from Stone Ridge in Bethesda; was a past President of their Alumnae Board; and continue to be the Class of 1964 representative. Starting Fall 2020, I am back on the Alumnae Board. I also attended Montgomery College and have taken many business-related courses over the years.
My family has been in the real estate and mortgage banking business since before I was born. My father, George DeFranceaux (1913-1997 – http://qr.net/ce1j) was well-known and respected in the Washington, DC area. He was a past President of the Washington Board of Realtors, among other honors, and was appointed by President Johnson to be the first Chairman of the National Corporation for Housing Partnerships (now known as NHP), which provided private funding for low and middle income housing. My uncle, George Moss, was the developer of the Springbrook area of Silver Spring, MD, owned Parklawn Cemetery, and developed the land along Rockville Pike at Randolph Rds; and my brother Don is also in the field.
After raising four children to school-age, I began a successful 25+ year career in the satellite communications field. For 19 of those years I was EVP/GM of a multi-million dollar multimedia/TV production company, while also providing satellite communications consulting. My husband Jack and I jumped at the opportunity to move to Kauai in early 2005 to take over the local gymnastics school: Kauai Gymnastics Academy (www.kauaigymnastics.com). We grew the school for 15 years. In 2009 I secured my real estate license in HI and sold over $47M in property from 2009 through early 2020. In June 2020, we sold our gymnastics business, our home and our car (is anyone singing?) and moved back to Woodbine, MD where we were before our Kauai adventure. I secured my MD license so now I represent real estate on Kauai and in Maryland. I am well-versed in what relocation is all about and running a business. One thing for sure: I am bringing the “aloha spirit” to real estate in MD.
I believe that home ownership is not only a good, long-term investment, but is also one of the most basic joys and privileges of life (after motherhood!). I bought my first home when I was 19 and I’ve never looked back.

I have four grown children and eight grandchildren. One daughter and two grandchildren live on Kauai.
